Looking For Some Fishing Tips?

Looking For Some Fishing Tips?I usually don’t spend more than 20 minutes in any given spot.  This amount of time allows adequate coverage of all possible fish locations.  If I haven’t got a bite after this time, I like to move to a new location.  This keeps my mind refreshed, changes the scenery and gives me the ability to stay focused. It also might give me a better place where the fish are really biting!

Hooks Need To Be SharpHooks need to be sharp, period. If you have dull hooks (even on lures), there is a good chance you will lose a fish that has bitten.  This is not a good feeling if you’ve been waiting a long time without a bite. I always have a hook sharpening stone with me.  If hooks get caught in rocks they might require sharpening.  The best way to check if a hook is sharp is to lightly slide the hook over your thumbnail.  If it grabs your nail with out putting pressure, the hook is sharp. Check your hooks often. If you don’t have the time to sharpen your hooks, buy new ones.
Follow the Laws and Good Fishing PracticesTake some time to learn responsible fishing practices. Keep your fishing environment as if it was untouched by man. Whatever your bring with you, should also leave with you, including any garbage, empty bait boxes and used line.  Learn the laws and including the size limit restrictions of each fish species in your lake and make sure you know the exceptions.  Make sure you know all the fish sanctuaries and the time of year that is appropriate.
Pack Some Snacks and WaterDon’t forget to pack water and snacks when you’re going fishing, particularly in summer. Sunlight can be exhausting, and it’s important that you fuel yourself with food and water so that you can keep your energy levels high. Depending on the amount of time you are going fishing, have at least a few meals and snacks.
It is important to learn how to set a hook properly. Especially when you are using lures, a fast hook set becomes essential in fishing. Nothing is more aggravating than getting a bite only to have the fish come off due to an improper hook set.
Practice Good Fire SafetyYou need to use common sense and be careful when it comes to making a fire or smoking in the wilderness. Never leave an active fire unattended. Make sure that all embers of an old fire pit are completely extinguished when you leave.  Also take note of the condition of local foliage.  Never flick a lit cigarette onto dry foliage.  This material is most vulnerable to fire, especially if there have been weeks with no rain.
Fishing Tangled Structure Can Be LucrativeFishing an area with underwater trees, branches and logs can be aggravating might be discouraging, but these areas tend to be the best place to land fish.  All fish love structure because that’s where they find food and protection against predators.  Fish love to feed on the bugs, frogs, and other small  fish that hang around this vegetation so look for those downed, underwater trees and logs if you want to catch more fish.
Fishing is a stress relieving activity that can help you spend more time with your loved ones. You can also make the most of these tips to improve your results. So, set aside some time with your family, and go fishing. The quality time that you spend together will be truly enjoyable.

Here’s to Great Times and Tight Lines!
