Jumbo Yellow Perch Fishing Lake Erie Oct.12, 2013

5/2/2017

We had a great day on Lake Erie yesterday Oct.12, 2013. We headed for the huge "floatilla" of boats straight out of Port Colborne in 62 feet of water.
It was a bit rough early with 8 knot winds (16 km/hr) from the East but it calmed right down to 4 km/hr by 11 am.
We didn't really get into them right away so we looked around a little bit until we say some action on the fish finder. So we stopped and anchored in 62 feet of water and they started to turn on at 10:30 am. The bite was on about 1 hour and slowly reduced but remained steady until about 2 pm.  We continued to mark fish on our screen the entire time, so it was clear we were parked over a school of jumbo yellow perch.
We easily got our limit of jumbo yellow perch by 2 pm (just 4.5 hours on the water). We got many good size perch for eating 9-10 inches and a few really big ones. All in all we had an fantastic time.
Jumbo Yellow perch will be schooling up in Lake Erie out of Port Colborne and Point Abino for about a few more weeks so try to get out there when weather permits.

Here's to good times and tight lines!
